2011 Champions League Winners Barcelona Celebration Pictures

Are you looking for pictures of Champions League winners Barcelona as they pick up the trophy and parade around Wembley? If so you can find them here.

Barcelona have beaten Manchester United by 3 goals to 1 at Wembley. Truth be told they could have won the match by a larger margin as they outclassed the Red Devils. It is hard to predict who could actually beat Barcelona as they are one of the best football teams around at the minute. They opened the scoring through Pedro, and it looked curtains at dawn. Manchester United pulled one back through Wayne Rooney, and at half time it was all square. But the second half was a different story with Barca giving Manchester United a masterclass. They scored twice; once through the ever impressive Messi, who was starting to have more and more of a say in the game. There was no way back for United, and Alex Ferguson even looked as if he had given up at 80 minutes.

AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri, predict the match on Saturday (28 / 5) at Wembley will run very tight.

British hallowed stadium that will hold a 2011 Champions League final match between Manchester United and Barcelona.

Allegri reluctant to predict who would come out as champions, but he believes the key is in the midfield duel.

"I think this party will take place very tight. Both teams have players with very high quality, so I also hope to see many goals, "he told the Uefa website.

"Both teams played well as a whole. They have many good individuals, but they are also very strong squad. "

"Clearly, Lionel Messi [Barcelona] and Wayne Rooney [United] are the two players who most caught my attention this season, and I think they will become the main actor. However, this match will be won in midfield. "

About two coaches who will lead his team competed, this 43-year man said, "Sir Alex Ferguson has earned a place in history books, he is one of the best coaches of all time."

FC Barcelona and Manchester United FC will descend on Wembley Stadium-28 may

1 Previous encounters
United and Barcelona have met on ten previous occasions, winning three games apiece and drawing the other four since beginning their rivalry in the 1983/84 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup quarter-finals. They have also met in two UEFA finals; aside from Barcelona's 2009 triumph, they also met in the 1991 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final in Rotterdam when United ran out 2-1 winners – Sir Alex Ferguson's first European trophy at Old Trafford. Former Barça striker Mark Hughes was the United hero, twice beating goalkeeper Carlos Busquets, father of Sergio.
2 Wembley experience
United are obviously no strangers to Wembley, scene of nine of their FA Cup final victories, though the north London venue also commands a place in Barcelona's affections. Indeed, as Europe's premier club competition returns to Wembley for a record sixth time – the first in the UEFA Champions League era – fate has pitted together the two sides that claimed their maiden European Cups there.
3 European pedigree
Both sides have three titles apiece and are aiming for a fourth to move level with AFC Ajax and FC Bayern München in the all-time list – behind only Liverpool FC, AC Milan and Real Madrid CF. United had a 100% record in finals before Rome in 2009, defeating Benfica (1968), Bayern (1999) and Chelsea FC (2008).
Barcelona have won three out of six, victories against Sampdoria (1992), Arsenal FC (2006) and United balanced out by losses to Benfica (1961), FC Steaua Bucureşti (1986) and Milan (1994). For the Blaugrana, triumph would bring their third European Cup in six seasons, making them the first team to win the UEFA Champions League three times this century.
4 Sir Alex v Guardiola
Guardiola was seven when a 36-year-old Sir Alex embarked on his first European campaign as a manager with Aberdeen FC in 1978/79. What followed for both men is well documented, and victory at Wembley would give the Scot his third European Cup – equalling a record held by compatriot Bob Paisley, who guided Liverpool to glory in 1977, 1978 and 1981.
Guardiola is one of only six men to win the European Cup as player and coach, adding his name to the pantheon of greats in 2009: Miguel Muñoz, Giovanni Trapattoni, Johan Cruyff, Carlo Ancelotti and Frank Rijkaard preceded him. Of those, only Muñoz and Ancelotti guided sides to two titles.
5 Anglo-Spanish finals
English and Spanish sides have met in 15 UEFA club competition finals, Spain winning seven and England eight since Tottenham Hotspur FC got the ball rolling with a 5-1 victory against Club Atlético de Madrid in the 1962/63 Cup Winners' Cup. England initially held sway, prevailing in six of the first eight meetings including Liverpool's 1-0 victory over Real Madrid CF in the 1980/81 European Cup.
Spain, though, have had the better of recent contests. Sevilla FC swept aside Middlesbrough FC 4-0 to claim the 2005/06 UEFA Cup, their first major honour, and a week later in Paris, Barcelona beat ten-man Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League showpiece, winning 2-1. The Catalan giants repeated the dose three years later, with Manchester United the unwilling recipients, while Atlético defeated Fulham FC in the first UEFA Europa League final in Hamburg last May.

MADRID – Barcelona memastikan kemenangan 2-0 atas Real Madrid pada leg pertama semifinal Liga Champions di Santiago Bernabeu, Kamis (28/4/2011). Lionel Messi memborong dua gol kemenangan Barca, dan berikut adalah rapor pemain kedua tim.UEFA Champions League 2006-2007

Real Madrid:
Iker Casillas 6,5

Barcelona vs Shakhtar Donetsk review

Widely heralded as one of the most gifted footballers on the planet, playing for the "best [team] in the world", FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi could be forgiven for feeling the heat.

Throw in a dry spell by his exceptional standards – four games without a goal – and Messi might have sensed a weight on his shoulders when he addressed the assembled media ahead of Wednesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg against FC Shakhtar Donetsk. The Argentina forward, striving to add to his 45 club goals this season – just two shy of Ronaldo's 1996/97 record – was a model of calm, however.

"I don't think we feel under pressure at this stage," he said. "I don't know what result would be good. We want to play a good match and win. The return leg depends on tomorrow's game but the important thing is to win. We never think of drawing matches because we always play to win. The fans are always there for us, especially in the Champions League, so I know they won't fail.

""I am not worried about not scoring recently. I hope I can score tomorrow to help the team and carry on scoring, but it isn't something that worries me". If I can score, fine. If not, it's OK. I'm not worried, but it would be a great record to have if I could overtake Ronaldo".

Convinced that the attacking verve instilled by Josep Guardiola ensures Barça are "well liked everywhere" and equally well set to face Shakhtar, Messi is nevertheless not taking victory for granted. The Azulgrana were, after all, beaten 3-2 at home by Mircea Lucescu's team in the 2008/09 group stage and were five minutes from being taken to penalties by them in the 2009 UEFA Super Cup before Pedro Rodríguez struck.

"They play good football, they have great players and we have faced them several times," Messi added. ""It'll be a very even match as usual against Shakhtar. I hope we can gain an advantage to feel more relaxed over there" [in the second leg]. I know they are strong; they produce good performances like in the Super Cup.

"We know it'll be difficult. They have very good players, lots of Brazilian players who play good football. It's a team that has a nice style. We know how to attack and we don't have a strategy. We know them, but we can't let them play."

[nic]

Trophy tour kicks off in Kuala Lumpur

Published: Thursday 24 February 2011, 14.59CET
The first official event of the 2011 UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by Heineken has taken place in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur at the start of an eight-week trip.

The 2011 UEFA Champions League Trophy Tour presented by Heineken is under way in Asia – after making Malaysia's capital city, Kuala Lumpur, the first of eight scheduled stops over the next two months.
This latest edition of the trophy tour was launched from UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, last week before reaching its first destination on 22 and 23 February. Kuala Lumpur got its first glimpse of European club football's most coveted piece of silverware during a press conference on Tuesday which heralded the official opening of the tour.
The star of the press conference was Gianfranco Zola, the UEFA Champions League Ambassador for this leg of the tour. Zola presented the trophy in front of more than 90 guests, including various media representatives and journalists. The media representatives were joined by senior representatives of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and Heineken special guests.
The press conference was staged amid an authentic trophy tour atmosphere, with guests enjoying a preview of what lies in store for the many Malaysian, Thai, South Korean and Chinese football fans who will be coming to see the UEFA Champions League Trophy for themselves.
As well as the glittering prize itself, the tour houses a UEFA Champions League exhibition that features stands dedicated to unique tournament memorabilia as well as historical images and videos relating the competition's long history, which dates back to 1955. Fans will be able to learn more about the Asian players who have graced the UEFA Champions League, about the tournament's leading clubs and about previous finals, among many other items of interest.
Given the Asian setting, one appropriate exhibit was a full and signed Manchester United FC kit worn by Park Ji-Sung, the Old Trafford team's Korea Republic midfielder.
As a prelude to the interaction that takes place between trophy tour ambassadors and visitors, Zola – the former Italy, Chelsea FC, SSC Napoli and Parma FC forward – was also available for a meet-and-greet session with Malaysian fans, signing autographs and having his picture taken with dozens of football lovers.
Zola said of his participation: "For me personally, it's a great honour. I never won this competition, I just played in it a couple of times, on two different occasions. But I know how important, how prestigious this competition is, all over the world. And for me to be here in Asia, promoting it, it's a great pleasure and an honour."
The trophy tour village will open its doors to much greater numbers of local football supporters during public visiting days at the Kuala Lumpur venue on 26 and 27 February. The trophy is remaining in the Malaysian capital until after the weekend, and will also return there next month after making a stop in Penang on 5 and 6 March.
The UEFA Champions League Trophy is back in Asia for the first time since the inaugural trophy tour of 2007 and following subsequent successful expeditions to Latin America, Africa and North America. This time, it will take in a total of four countries and seven cities during an eight-week Far Eastern excursion:
• 22-27 February – Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
• 5-6 March – Penang (Malaysia)
• 11-12 March – Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)
• 16-17 March – Bangkok (Thailand)
• 19-20 March – Chiang Mai (Thailand)
• 25-27 March – Khon Kaen (Thailand)
• 6-9 April – Seoul (Korea Republic)
• 15-17 April – Hong Kong

Arsenal triumph tarnished by injuries
Published: Wednesday 23 February 2011, 23.55CET
Arsenal FC moved within a point of pacesetters Manchester United FC after defeating Stoke City FC 1-0 at home, though the win was marred by injuries to Theo Walcott and Cesc Fàbregas.

Sébastien Squillaci headed his first Premier League goal for Arsenal FC as the Gunners overcame Stoke City FC 1-0 at home.

Theo Walcott had already struck a post with a shot before the unmarked Squillaci guided in Nicklas Bendtner's cross from close range on eight minutes. The victory − the Gunners' seventh in a ten-match unbeaten league run dating back to mid-December − came at a price, however, with both Walcott (ankle) and captain Cesc Fàbregas (hamstring) sustaining injuries. While Arsenal moved a point behind Premier League leaders Manchester United FC, although they have played a game more, Stoke remained tenth following their fifth successive away loss in the top flight.

2011 final: Wembley Stadium

2011 final: Wembley Stadium

The highlight of European football's club calendar returns to the London venue for a record sixth time, the first at the new stadium, on Saturday 28 May 2011.

Wembley Stadium will host the 2011 UEFA Champions League final following a decision by the UEFA Executive Committee at its meeting in Nyon in January 2009. The highlight of European football's club calendar returns to the London venue for a record sixth time, the first at the new stadium, on Saturday 28 May 2011.

• Wembley has undergone a massive transformation since it hosted the last old-style European Champion Clubs' Cup final in 1992, but the new stadium has lost none of its prestige. The famous twin towers have made way for an iconic arch over the stadium, which has been totally rebuilt and is now one of the most modern and breathtaking arenas in the world. Boasting a seated capacity of 90,000, the new Wembley reopened its doors in 2007 and is once again home to the England national side, as well as host to the nation's premier domestic cup finals.

• Known as the 'Home of Football', Wembley has hosted five European Cup finals, more than any other stadium, as well as two UEFA Cup Winners' Cup finals. AC Milan defeated SL Benfica 2-1 in Wembley's first European final in 1963 before Manchester United FC became the competition's first English winners thanks to their 4-1 extra-time triumph against the same Portuguese side in 1968. In 1971, AFC Ajax beat Panathinaikos FC 2-0 to lift the trophy for the first time, and there were also 1-0 wins for Liverpool FC against Club Brugge KV in 1978 and FC Barcelona against UC Sampdoria in 1992.
• The original Wembley Stadium was known as the Empire Stadium, and was built as the centrepiece of a British Empire Exhibition at the end of the First World War. Though not officially opened by King George V until 23 April 1924, the stadium hosted its first FA Cup final the previous year, when an estimated 200,000 people crammed in to watch Bolton Wanderers FC defeat West Ham United FC 2-0. That match famously became known as the 'White Horse final', as a mounted policeman took to the pitch to keep fans at bay.
• The old stadium, named after the north London suburb in which it is located, would serve as the focal point of English football from then until it was demolished in 2003 to make way for the current structure. Wembley hosted the 1948 Olympic Games and also the final of EURO '96 but, from an English perspective, unquestionably its finest hour came on 30 July 1966, when Geoff Hurst scored a hat-trick to inspire England to a 4-2 extra-time win against West Germany in the final of the FIFA World Cup.
• In addition to major football events, the new venue has hosted significant sporting occasions in rugby union, rugby league, American football and even motor sports. It has likewise held a number of large concerts and charity events, with spectators able to take advantage of its 34 bars, eight restaurants and 688 food and drink service points.
